Newcastle preparing ‘monster offer’ for Serie A striker – Report

According to Calcio Mercato, Newcastle have been ‘wooing’ Napoli’s Victor Osimhen in a bid to beat Bayern Munich to the striker’s signature this summer.

The Italian outlet claims we are preparing a ‘monster offer’ for the Nigerian international, whose been linked with a move to St James’ Park since his days in Ligue 1 with Lille.

The Serie A side are expected to demand huge money for the 23-year-old, who finished the season with 14 goals and five assists in the league, helping Gli Azzurri secure third place and Champions League football next year.

With Bayern Munich soon to depart with their talented marksman Robert Lewandowski, the Bundesliga winners have shown real interest in bringing Osimhen in to replace the prolific Pole.

Even if the German giants didn’t up their interest, this feels like the sort of mega-money move that may have to wait – especially when the club are aiming to work within FFP limitations while we wait for lucrative sponsorship deals to arrive.

Osimhen may have been watched by Steve Nickson for some time – according to The Chronicle – and could be just what we need up top, but I’m not holding my breath when a ‘monster bid’ could mean spending most of Howe’s budget!
