VIDEO: Miguel Almiron scores beauty as NUFC star bags brilliant brace vs South Korea – Watch here

After struggling in front of goal over the past year on Tyneside, Miguel Almiron has found the net twice in Paraguay’s clash with South Korea today.

The former MLS star only found the net once across the 2021/22 season, but has bagged a brace in Suwon on Friday – and one of his strikes is well worth a watch!

The first saw his pace cause problems in behind, as he capitalised on some poor South Korean defending before slotting the ball home, while his superb second was a curling left-foot strike into the top corner after finding space on the counter attack.

Paraguay had taken a 2-0 lead through Almiron’s double, but a second half free kick from Son Heung-Min and 93rd minute strike from Jeong Woo-Yeong saw the match end 2-2.

Here’s Miggy’s superb second, followed by his opening goal to give the South Americans a first half lead:

The 28-year-old has been linked with a move away this summer, but Eddie Howe may be having second thoughts if he can take this form into pre-season training.

Alternatively, these goals might just help put him in the shop window should we look to cash in…
