Ashworth filmed arriving at SJP along with Sven Botman after £35m man passes medical – Video

Dan Ashworth and Sven Botman have been filmed arriving at St James’ Park in the last few moments ahead of the Dutchman’s imminent move to Newcastle United.

After a holiday in Mallorca, the 22-year-old took a private jet to Newcastle airport earlier today and was spotted arriving at the club’s training ground at lunchtime alongside our new sporting director.

With personal terms agreed and his medical passed with flying colours, the centre-back looks set to become the most expensive defender the club have ever signed.

The Mail and The Telegraph reckon he’ll sign for £32m, while Sky Sports understand he’ll cost around £35m. Either way, this feels like a real statement of intent and superb piece of business.

Given we’ve beaten European giants AC Milan to a deal, it makes you wonder if Dan Ashworth’s arrival came at the perfect time, as our new sporting director is likely to have played a key role in getting this one over the line in recent weeks.

Here’s footage of the former Brighton and England man at SJP – where he’s been posing for pictures with fans – followed by Sven Botman arriving at the stadium:
