Sky Sports: Newcastle discussing loan deal that could open door for another marquee signing

Sky Sports have released an interesting update on our pursuit of Armanda Broja, explaining why we are looking to sign the striker on loan.

North-East correspondent Keith Downie claims we are discussing the possibility of bringing him to Tyneside on a temporary basis, believing this would free up funds to sign a quality right winger.

This could make plenty of sense, as it would cost big money to bring in someone like Moussa Diaby – the Bayer Leverkusen wide man who’s expected to cost around £50m.

It seems we’ll face competition for Broja, as West Ham and Southampton are also showing interest, with the latter having him on loan during the 2021/22 season.

If we could secure him on a similar deal – or even one that includes an option or obligation to buy – it would be a smart signing that enables us to bring in an exciting young striker, while also having money available to spend on a top winger.

That said, this is all dependant on Chelsea’s plans for the 20-year-old, who won’t let him go until Thomas Tuchel has taken a closer look over pre-season.
