Newcastle join race to sign relegated midfielder – £18m deal on offer as clubs queue up – Report

A new name has been linked with a potential summer move to St James’ Park, with Metz star Boubacar Traore the latest young talent being tipped to arrive on Tyneside.

Football Insider report that we are one of several Premier League clubs jostling for the 20-year-old midfielder after an impressive season in Ligue 1.

The report that Newcastle, Leicester, Southampton, Wolves and Nottingham Forest are all admirers of the Malian, stating that he is available for a fee in the region of £18m.

French sides Monaco, Lyon and Nice are also believed to be in the mix, with a summer move appearing inevitable after Metz’s relegation to Ligue 2 earlier this summer.

With a good frame, quick feet and his best years ahead of him, he appears to tick plenty boxes, with it well documented that the club are looking to bring in a young midfielder to replace Isaac Hayden.

Another name to watch out for, it seems, although I’d be surprised if Metz were able to command such a fee for a relatively unproven 20-year-old now playing in France’s second tier…
