Lyon set new Lucas Paqueta price tag as journalist reveals player’s stance & three clubs keen

According to new reports, Lucas Paqueta’s asking price has dropped by £15m, with Lyon ready to ‘seriously consider’ offers at around £55m after previously demanding £70m in January.

This comes via CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, who also reveals that the Brazilian is “very open” to joining a Premier League club after asking to leave the Ligue 1 side this summer.

He claims that Newcastle are one of three clubs who have enquired about a potential deal for the South American playmaker – who is best friends with our very own Bruno Guimaraes – however Arsenal and Roma are also keen.

That said, Jacobs reports that ourselves and Arsenal are ‘exploring a number of options’, as we believe the asking price set by Lyon remains on the high side, meaning no bids have gone in as of yet.

Here’s what he told his 91,000 Twitter followers in a Wednesday night update on the man so many want to see at St James’ Park this summer:

Lyon will seriously consider offers for Lucas Paqueta for £55m (€65m). Jean-Michel Aulas will not hold out for the near £70 million price-tag he quoted in January. Lyon accept Paqueta wants to leave this window & won’t stand in his way if they receive a satisfactory offer.

Arsenal, Newcastle and Roma amongst three clubs to have enquired. Arsenal feel confident they can persuade the Brazilian to join and want player buy-in first. Edu believes the asking price is a little inflated and won’t get sucked into a bidding war.

‘At this point, Arsenal and Newcastle are both exploring a number of creative options. Paqueta is one of them but neither club has placed a bid yet. Paqueta is very open to EPL moves and wants a new challenge.’

  1. Nufc buy him for gods sake. Him and 1 or 2 older strikers that can do a job for us for a season or two instead of unproven youngsters
