Journalist claims Newcastle are showing “real” interest in a third Chelsea player

Newcastle United are reportedly keeping a close eye on Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi.

This comes from CBS reporter Ben Jacobs, who claims we are showing “real” interest in the 21-year-old, despite not making a formal move for the attacker as of yet.

He believes that Chelsea are assessing the player’s future over pre-season after he only recently returned to full fitness, feeling it could “take quite a lot” for them to sell.

That said, with Raheem Sterling’s arrival leaving him further down the pecking order – he only made 15 Premier League appearances last season – a loan deal may be something they’d consider.

This is the third Chelsea attacker we’ve been linked with over the past week, with us also tracking Armando Broja and Timo Werner.

Speaking on NUFC Matters, here’s what he had to say about the pacey wide man:

“Hudson-Odoi, by the way, would be a great signing for a club like Newcastle United.

“At the moment, I think Chelsea are just assessing his future and Newcastle haven’t made any kind of formal move at all.

“The interest is real there on Newcastle’s part, though.

“The thing with Hudson-Odoi is that he’s only just back to full fitness, so it’s going to take quite a lot to persuade Chelsea to sell him to anybody.”

A move for Hudson-Odoi may be the sort of late loan move Howe alluded to earlier this week, although it’s worth noting you can only sign ONE player on a temporary deal from the same club – giving us a potential dilemma should the likes of Broja, Werner or Pulisic become available.
