As reported by The Mail’s Craig Hope, Leicester City are showing interest in Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
Following the signing of England international Nick Pope, there is no longer a guarantee of first-team football for the Slovakian who may look for a more secure position at another club – and our ongoing interest in James Maddison has left some wondering if a part-exchange could be explored.
Long-term servant and captain Kasper Schmeichel looks set to leave the East Midlands side and join Ligue 1 outfit Nice in the coming days, leaving the number one spot vacant after eleven years at Leicester.
While Dubravka is not currently part of our new improved bid for Maddison, it’s thought things could change on that front in our bid to negotiate a deal – especially when we currently seem reluctant to match Leicester’s £60m asking price.
After four-and-a-half years at the club and 130 appearances, the 33-year-old has been a faithful servant to the club, but it may be the right time for both parties to move on begin a new journey, especially if it helps us land such an exciting attacking target.
No newcastle player gets into Leicester’s best 11. We don’t want your cast offs, whilst you try to take one of our best. This deal is not going to happen and Maddison is happy at LCFC.
