Amanda Staveley sends transfer message to Eddie Howe after high-level talks at SJP – Report

According to The Chronicle, Eddie Howe has received assurances that he will get ‘at least’ TWO new signings before the summer transfer window slams shut.

Lee Ryder reveals that ‘high-level talks’ took place on Tyneside over the weekend, with Amanda Staveley, Dan Ashworth and incoming CEO Darren Eales all in town for our pre-season friendlies against Atalanta and Athletic Bilbao.

Staveley led our recruitment drive in January and, during a recent round of discussions, it’s believed she’s assured Howe that a couple of new attackers will arrive before the month is out.

The window shuts on September 1st this year, giving us another four weeks to do business. However, it has been a tough window to operate in so far, with us being left frustrated in our search for a new winger and striker.

Hugo Ekitike ended up at PSG despite us agreeing on a deal with Reims for the 20-year-old, we were priced out of moves for Moussa Diaby and Alexander Isak and have had a host of bids rejected for the likes of James Maddison, Anthony Gordon and Jack Harrison.

Howe recently told Sky Sports News that the club “won’t stop” until the right players come in over the next month and it seems this message has been echoed by the powers that be, with Toon chiefs insisting that our summer spending is ‘not over’ as we approach the final few weeks of the summer.

Hopefully, we can find a compromise with Leicester on James Maddison and use the remaining funds to bring in a much-needed striker – even if it’s a season-long loan deal on a try-before-you-buy basis.

  1. If true, I hope they are quality signings that fit into the team. Not desperate signings just to make a statement.
We have a 6week WC break, 1 round of footy before the Jan window opens. There could be a lot of unhappy players who would want to move during this time.
