Mike Ashley’s right-hand man seals shock return to the Premier League – The Telegraph

As reported by The Telegraph, Nottingham Forest are set to appoint Newcastle’s former chief executive Lee Charnley on a consultancy basis to help with their transition to the Premier League.

The 44-year-old – who worked at Newcastle for 22 years, 13 of them as a director – left the North East in November following the confirmation of the takeover, but is now ready to re-enter the world of top flight football.

After enduring over a decade of Charnley and Ashley at the top of our club, it can only be described as an overwhelmingly depressing experience – sorry Forest fans.

However, luckily for the Reds’ supporters, it seems Charnley’s role will be away from football or transfers and focusing more on the business side of matters throughout the season.

If nothing else, the ex-Magpie director will bring over two decades of experience at a Premier League club and will certainly know what it’s like to be battling at the bottom of the table – so it’s not all bad news!
