£64m man set to miss Newcastle clash after moment of madness on Monday night – Video

In a moment of madness last night, Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez got himself sent off for a headbutt in a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace – meaning he’ll now be suspended for our trip to Anfield on August 31st.

With the Reds being 1-0 down at the time, it makes Nunez’s act of stupidity on Palace’s Joachim Andersen even worse, and his straight red card means that he will miss their next three games.

After scoring from the bench last week in a 2-2 draw with Fulham, there was an air of excitement to see the £64million man on his first competitive start – but it was a home debut to forget for the Uruguayan who missed multiple chances before his dismissal.

The 23-year-old was heavily linked with a move to St James’ Park prior to his big money move to Merseyside, with Toon scouts said to be watching him closely during his time at Benfica, however he’ll be banned when Eddie’s Mags come to town after Monday night’s red card.

In terms of replacements, Roberto Firmino could be the man who fills in when we go to Liverpool in a few weeks, although he was missing from their squad last night due to a knock.

For anyone who missed it, here’s Nunez’s moment of madness below:
