Newcastle offered chance to sign Argentinian forward alongside Man Utd – Fabrizio Romano

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Newcastle, along with Manchester United, have been offered the chance to sign PSG striker Mauro Icardi.

Despite the offer, both clubs are yet to make a formal proposal to the French club while Galatasaray have also been contacted in regards to Icardi’s availability.

Speaking to CaughtOffised, Romano had this to say on the Argentine: “Icardi’s situation is really difficult. PSG want to find a solution soon, but the player does not intend to accept unwanted destinations.

“He has been offered to Man Utd and Newcastle who have not made any kind of proposal for Icardi so far. There are also Galatasaray emissaries who contacted Icardi’s camp this week.”

Since joining PSG permanently in 2020, the 29-year-old has struggled with injuries and is yet to hit the soaring heights he reached at Inter Milan, scoring just 11 league goals in his two Ligue 1 campaigns.

At Inter, the Argentinian international was a prolific goalscorer and one of Europe’s hottest talents, scoring 111 goals in 188 appearances – twice voted into Serie A Team of the Year and once voted Player of the Year.

Whoever takes the chance on signing the former Barcelona academy player will be hoping they can get him fit and firing and playing his best football once again.
