Ally McCoist tips Manchester United to sign Newcastle star who is ‘different class’

Speaking to talkSPORT, Ally McCoist has urged Manchester United to target Premier League quality players such as Newcastle star Callum Wilson or Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

Man United are closing in on a £42m deal for Atletico Madrid forward Matheus Cunha, but McCoist believes the Red Devils should look a little closer to home for their next proven goalscorer.

Wilson has had a great start to the season with his accurate finish against Nottingham Forest while Toney played a huge role – two assists – in Brentford’s 4-0 demolition of Man United.

Despite his injuries, the 30-year-old was still one of the highest scoring strikers in the league per90 last season – placing behind Jamie Vardy and Cristiano Ronaldo – and will bring goals to any team in the league.

Speaking on Man United’s targets, McCoist said: “There is a massive amount of quality around the league. Ivan Toney is certainly one of them. Another that I like – I know he’s had his injuries – but it is Callum Wilson up at Newcastle. I think he’s different class.”

It is very unlikely that the former Bournemouth man would leave such an exciting prospect for the toxic atmosphere that lingers around Old Trafford, but Newcastle supporters won’t appreciate these messages nonetheless.
