Watford insider sends exciting João Pedro message to NUFC fans and drops new transfer hint

Earlier this week, we spoke to Watford insider @louorns about João Pedro’s potential move to Tyneside after an opening bid of £20m was turned down by the Hornets.

Speaking exclusively to the blog, he revealed that it would take £30-£35m to sign highly-rated Brazilian, and it seems we’re edging closer to their asking price after Fabrizio Romano confirmed our latest offer is worth £25m (£22m + £3m in add-ons).

With that proposal swiftly rejected last night, Lou believes an offer of £25m + £5m in add-ons would seal the deal, feeling it’s now just a ‘matter of time’ until the 20-year-old – who is ‘desperate’ to sign – swaps Vicarage Road for St James’ Park.

Not only that, he’s also offered some fascinating – and potentially exciting – insight on the player himself, detailing why he’s so highly thought of in Hertfordshire.

Speaking on Twitter, he explains why the former Fluminense star is ‘on another level’ to Emmanuel Dennis and Ismaila Sarr and a huge talent who could be a joy to watch alongside Brazilian compatriots Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton.

Here’s what he’s had to say:

You can tell Newcastle are a smart club. They’re the ones who looked at our front three and picked Joao Pedro over Sarr and Dennis. The latter two have the pedigree, but Joao is on another level talent wise to those two. Just needs his decision making to be slightly better.

He’s a 10, who can operate in the front three, or even as an eight. Superb technical ability, loves to drop deep and link play. Progressive passer who will drag you up field — has bulked up too; which Newcastle saw themselves [when he scored a header in last season’s 1-1 draw at St James’ Park].

To me he’s already a better player than Allan Saint-Maximin and Almiron is not in the same league as him. He’s not a winger, but he works very hard off the ball, and will take up positions in the wide zones of the pitch and then come centrally

“So far this season (in his position) he leads the Championship for dribbles, open play clear cut chances created, defensive duels & progressive passes. He’s got great ball striking ability, but his shot selection needs work. Get his decision making right and boyyyyyyy oh boy.

“Joelinton, João Pedro and Bruno Guimarães in the same team? If that clicks and they get an understanding…that’s going to be fun!”

Remind you of anyone we have already?
Talented, but no decision making ability?
    Two player, maybe?

  2. Decision making is what sets players apart, you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.
We already have a few headless chickens, don’t want any extra.
