According to The Mail’s Craig Hope, Bruno Guimaraes looks set to miss Newcastle’s next TWO Premier League games through injury.
The Brazilian missed Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Wolves with a knock, with Eddie Howe stating after the game that Wednesday’s trip to Liverpool may also come “too soon.”
However, Hope’s latest information is that Bruno is likely to miss “at least” our next two games, meaning he’ll be forced to sit out our trip to Anfield and clash with Crystal Palace at St James’ Park this Saturday at the very minimum.
The North-East reporter claims that the injury “doesn’t sound too serious”, but reveals that the knock was picked up in that 3-3 draw with Man City and not detected until after our Carabao Cup win over Tranmere last week.
Here’s what Howe had to say about his absence on Sunday, followed by Hope’s update on Twitter:
“He has a slight niggle and I don’t think it’s anything serious.
“We hope he won’t miss too much.
“Liverpool might be too soon.”
So, another frustrating injury blow after already losing Jonjo Shelvey earlier this summer, but one that may focus minds as we enter the final few days of the transfer window, with a midfielder likely to be high up on the agenda ahead of Thursday’s 11pm deadline.
He shouldn’t have been playing against Tranmere, he ran himself into the ground against city and clearly needed the rest. Medical department should get a big clap for that one.
