As reported by The Mail, Newcastle are preparing to launch a £2.5m offer for West Ham right-back Harrison Ashby after Emil Krafth suffered a serious knee injury.
The 20-year-old only just made his first appearance of the season – sixth overall for the Hammers – in their convincing 3-1 victory against Viborg in the first leg of the Europa Conference League qualifiers.
Following the results of Krafth’s scan, the Swede is set to be sidelined for a number of months, leaving the Magpies fairly light in numbers down the right-hand side and potentially in need of reinforcements.
With just one Premier League appearance to his name – a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal back in December – the Scotland U21 international doesn’t come with a wealth of experience, but is an exciting talent with bags of potential.
Many West Ham fans have already voiced their disappointment at the idea of losing the right-back to a direct rival, and especially at such a low price – it seems he is valued much higher by supporters and could be one to watch for the future.
Don’t be so ridiculous. £2.5m will get you his toenail – at least have the decency to suggest a proper figure (ie. closer to £20m). You still wouldn’t get him, but it would at least show you’re being serious…
