24-second clip emerges of Elliot Anderson as NUFC talent sends clear message to Eddie Howe

A brilliant clip has emerged on social media of Elliot Anderson’s eye-catching cameo in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace.

In his first Premier League outing at St James’ Park, the 19-year-old never looked out of place during his 20 minutes on the pitch.

He always wanted the ball, won a few free kicks, forced corners and showed lovely feet before delivering a few dangerous balls into the box that could’ve been assists on another day. Not only that, he seems to be able to look after himself physically, as the clip below (0:05) shows him barging a 6ft 2′ Joe Ward off the ball before winning a late corner.

Watch the 24-second clip below of his impressive cameo, which reminded Eddie Howe that he looks more than capable at this level as he pushes for his first start.

After that stunning loan spell at Bristol Rovers, the Toon teenager was handed a chance to impress over pre-season by Eddie Howe; who soon realised he was ready for the Premier League and too good to be loaned out to a Championship club.

Anderson almost won us the game at Wolves in his first outing of the season – winning a free kick on the edge of the box after hitting the bar himself – but the impact he made on his first competitive appearance at St James’ Park was even more impressive, causing havoc down the left against a Palace side who didn’t know how to handle him.

Some see him as one for the future, but he looks capable of making an impact right now based on what we saw on Saturday.

  1. EA is coming along just great. Can’t wait to see how Howe uses him when everyone is healthy and he can’t keep EA on the bench as a sub any longer. Would love to see Howe get Wilson, Isak, ASM, and EA up front together with Joel and Bruno in mid.

  2. Aye – it’s a good job this clip came out to remind Howe – because Howe probably wasn’t even watching the match!
