Four NUFC players receive Premier League nominations alongside Liverpool, Man City & Arsenal stars

Nick Pope has been nominated for the Premier League player of the month award for August.

After being named Newcastle’s FUN88 player of the month last week, our summer signing is now competing for the Premier League prize alongside Erling Haaland, Gabriel Jesus and Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Three goal of the month nominations have also come our way, with Fabian Schar (Nottingham Forest), Kieran Trippier (Man City) and Allan Saint-Maximin (Wolves) all up for August’s award along with Liverpool’s Luis Diaz and Chelsea’s Kalidou Koulibaly.

Back to Pope, the former Burnley man has made an outstanding start to life on Tyneside, following clean sheets against Nottingham Forest and Brighton – where he single handedly kept us in the game – with 14 saves in games against Man City, Wolves and Liverpool last month.

Here’s all eight players nominated for the opening POTM award of the new season, followed by the goal of the month contenders:

  • Nick Pope (Newcastle)
  • Erling Haaland (Man City)
  • Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal)
  • Martin Odegaard (Arsenal)
  • Pascal Gross (Brighton)
  • Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham)
  • Rodrigo (Leeds)
  • Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace)

  1. Darlow, Krafth and Bruno two long term injuries and Bruno missing…. perhaps Tranmere should get an award for being the dirtiest team in the league!
