Free agent rejects Newcastle United offer as Loris Karius looks set to sign instead – Report

According to new reports, Ben Foster rejected an offer from Newcastle United before the club turned to Loris Karius.

This comes from Football Insider, who claim that the 39-year-old turned down the opportunity to join Newcastle on a short-term basis earlier this week, suggesting he was Eddie Howe’s preferred target.

Foster has made 390 appearances in the top flight, but was released by Watford at the end of the 2021/22 season following their relegation to the second tier.

However, he will remain a free agent after rejecting our offer following an injury to Karl Darlow, with former Liverpool goalkeeper expected to sign a short-term deal on Tyneside in the next 24 hours.

Sky Germany revealed yesterday that the 29-year-old had passed his medical at the club, with Fabrizio Romano reporting last night that a contract is signed and announcement imminent, stating he’ll sign until January as cover for Darlow.
