Monday morning deal confirmed as the good news keeps on coming at Newcastle United

After a big win on Saturday, the good news continues at Newcastle United as Callum Wilson has committed his future to the club.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, our number nine has signed a new deal at St James’ Park, penning two-year contract that contains an option to extend for a third year ‘based on a variety of factors.’

The report also states that he’s now in line with the club’s highest earners – a well deserved reward for being our top scorer in each of the last two seasons.

He’s had his injury issues, but with 23 goals and five assists in 48 Premier League appearances for Newcastle, the former Bournemouth man has rarely let us down when fit – summed up by his immediate return to the scoresheet in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Fulham.

Interestingly, The Athletic add that Eddie Howe was desperate to keep him for his influence on and off the pitch, feeling he can ‘help the club’s younger forwards develop over the coming years.’

It’s a good deal for Wilson – who turns 31 next February – but one he’s worked hard to achieve after coming back stronger from each and every injury setback.
