Fabrizio Romano: Toon target set to cost Newcastle ‘more than €30m’ despite agent links

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Vasco da Gama star Andrey Santos will cost Newcastle United upwards of €30m – despite recent reports suggesting the the price could be around £20m.

The 18-year-old has been heavily linked with the Magpies over the last few weeks, with Barcelona and Real Madrid believed to be admirers of the highly-rated midfielder.

Romano reveals that we have a ‘good relationship’ with the player’s agent and have monitored the Brazilian for a ‘long time’, however he won’t come cheap.

With 29 appearances and 7 goals in Serie B in 2022, as well as a call-up to Brazil’s Under-20 team – who he often captains – Santos is regarded as one of South America’s most exciting talents and Newcastle would do well to beat European giants to his signature.

As our new owners look to overhaul the academy and training ground and bring in some of the top prospects in the world, signing the Brazilian would send a huge message to other young stars and mark the start of a new era for the club.
