Callum Wilson reveals the NUFC duo he’s been “pleasantly surprised” by on BBC Radio 5Live

Speaking on BBC Radio 5Live, Callum Wilson has bene discussing Bruno Guimaraes and Sven Botman – two players who shone for different reasons in Saturday’s 5-1 win over Brentford.

Wilson admits that it took Bruno a “few weeks to settle”, but feels we have signed a “superstar” who is not only an “unbelievable” player on the pitch but a great guy to be around off it.

Our number nine has also praised Botman, revealing that both have left him “pleasantly surprised” since sealing moves from Ligue 1 over the past year, seeing them as huge talents who have a big future in the game.

The big Dutchman put in a commanding display over the weekend, showing his quality on and off the ball as he kept Ivan Toney quiet in a one-sided affair at St James’ Park.

Here’s what he had to say when speaking about our £70m duo on BBC 5 Live’s Monday Night Club:

“When he (Bruno) first joined, it took him a few weeks to settle.

“It was a new team, new league, new environment and a new area. The North East isn’t the ideal place to move to from a foreign country with the wind and the cold up there but you soon get used to it!

“He’s settled in. He’s got broken English but he’s an English person if you know what I mean with his banter and the way he is around the dressing room. He has a laugh, he’s friendly and overall he’s an unbelievable football player.

“Him and Sven Botman, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by – two young players that have come into the football club. They’re real talents and have a long career in the game.

“His numbers are speaking for themselves, he was fantastic at the weekend. But it wasn’t just about his goals, he’s added that to his game, he’s even scored headers.

“The way he gets on the ball and flicks it around players, it’s like he’s in the playground with friends. He’s definitely a talent and a superstar.”
