Journalist hits nail on the head – Eddie Howe now set to attract signings to St James’ Park?

The Daily Mail’s Craig Hope believes Newcastle’s ‘biggest pull’ going into the January transfer window will be Eddie Howe – ‘a coach who will improve you as a player’.

Time and time again the 44-year-old has proven everyone wrong by improving players at Newcastle who many expected to be the first out of the door following the arrival of our Saudi-backed owners.

Joelinton has been the biggest example with his transformation from ineffective goalscorer to dominant midfielder. But more recently Miguel Almiron has been rightly receiving all the praise after scoring seven in seven despite netting just nine times in his previous three-and-a-half seasons (110 appearances) at the club.

Other players who have perhaps gone under the radar are the likes of Fabian Schar, Emil Krafth and Sean Longstaff; three who looked lost and destined for the exit door under Steve Bruce.

As Hope states, there are very few coaches around who have shown to dramatically improve players, and many of Europe’s hottest prospects may now be looking at Newcastle as their ideal destination in the coming months.

  1. Personally I think the biggest pull will be 3rd position in the league, a huge paycheck and owners who effectively have unlimited resources.

  2. well for its eddy thats going to be the big pull for new recruits as his stock as a manager is rising and the way he has got the players playing and everyone at the club is pulling the same way

  4. Kcey:-
    Totally agree!
Would add that we look absolutely toothless when Wilson is out, his movement and goals cause so much problem for other teams and he creates room for others so we miss him badly.
So hope if we get someone else in he’s a cracking striker.
We also haven’t got the strength yet in depth yet imo to maintain our position in the league if we get injuries.
Hope he stays fit during World Cup.
