Carabao Cup thrown wide open – Toon handed home tie & big boys clash in fourth round draw

Following our shootout win over Crystal Palace, Newcastle United have now been drawn to face Bournemouth at St James’ Park in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup.

The match will see Eddie Howe come up against his former club, who beat Everton 4-1 in the previous round and held us to a 1-1 draw on Tyneside earlier this season.

Elsewhere, Man City have drawn Liverpool – guaranteeing that another big name will crash out after the likes of Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea were all dumped out this week.

Fourth round ties will take place in the week commencing 19th December, handing certain sides an incredibly short turnaround given the World Cup final will take place on Sunday 18th.

With three of the ‘big six’ already out and one of Man City and Liverpool set to follow, the draw is opening up very nicely – but that will mean nothing if we can’t see off the Cherries next month!
