Club name asking price for Newcastle United target ahead of the January transfer window

Shakhtar Donetsk have revealed the huge fee they’d be willing to accept for Ukrainian superstar Mykhaylo Mudryk this winter.

Speaking to The Athletic, director of football Dario Srna has indicated that it will take €100m (£87m) to sign the 21-year-old, insisting that recent moves for Antony – who cost Man Utd £86m – and Jack Grealish (£100m) have dictated his market value.

The report reveals that Newcastle United, Arsenal, Man City and PSG have all been monitoring the winger in recent months, with his value rocketing after a series of outstanding displays on the Champions League stage.

With pace, power, skill and impressive technique, he’s one of the most exciting talents in Europe, but it remains to be seen if Newcastle will spend big this winter; despite our loft league position.

Here’s what Srna told The Athletic when asked the player’s valuation:

“If somebody wants to buy Mudryk, they must pay huge, huge, huge money. Otherwise the president of the club (Rinat Akhmetov) will not sell him. All the clubs must respect the President, respect Shakhtar and in the end they must respect Mykhaylo Mudryk, who is one of the best players I saw. The price is so big.

“The market is deciding the price — not me. Antony (Man Utd), Grealish (Man City), they are players of more than €100m and for me, Mudryk does not have less quality than them. This is the last two transfers in the past year, in more or less the same positions. Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. We want just respect. The market is deciding the price, not me, it shows which kind of players cost this kind of money.”
