Toon linked with bargain move for French International out of contract in 2023

According to The Sun, Newcastle are keen on signing Borrussia Monchengladbach star Marcus Thurman, being aware of his contract situation that could see him leave on a free transfer next summer.

The versatile 25-year-old – who can play out wide or up top – has had a hugely impressive start to the season with 10 goals and three assists in the opening 15 games of the Bundesliga.

His great form has also earned him a call-up to France’s 26-man squad for the World Cup after making three appearances for the national team in 2020 and just one in 2021.

As of January, the Frenchman will be free to enter discussions with other clubs, but it’s reported that Newcastle will have to battle Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham; three clubs who are also showing interest in the 6ft 4′ forward.

Thuram could be a shrewd signing. We already have Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak up top, but his ability to play wide mixed in with doubts over Chris Wood’s future makes this a deal that could tick plenty of boxes, if we are indeed interested.
