Following strong links with a move to St James’ Park in 2023, Vasco da Gama star Andrey Santos has revealed that Bruno Guimaraes is one of his favourite players.
Over the past few months, a host of South American outlets have credited Newcastle with serious interest in the highly-rated 18-year-old, with journalists Fabrizio Romano and Mark Douglas also confirming he’s a player we’ve been watching closely.
He appears to be the latest Brazilian gem we’re looking to sign, and it seems a move to St James’ Park may well appeal to the highly-rated midfielder.
Not only has he named Guimaraes as a player he ‘looks up to a lot’, he’s talked up a potential move over the coming months, admitting it’s a ‘dream’ of his to play in one of Europe’s top leagues.
Speaking to Lance, here’s what the man himself had to say:
“They [Vasco de Gama] transformed me into a midfielder. I was very happy, because I was closer to goal.”
“I really like Casemiro, Bruno Guimaraes and Thiago Alcantara. These guys are phenomenal. I look up to them a lot.
“It is clear that football in Europe is much more advanced than here in Brazil. And every boy has the dream of playing in Europe. But I am calm about it, because I know that everything will turn out well.”
