Club director travels to Tyneside to finalise move for Maximo Perrone – Report

According to reports in South America, Newcastle United are closing in on Argentine talent Maximo Perrone.

Vélez a Fondo – a radio show dedicated to Vélez Sarsfield – claims that club director and former Mag Christian Bassedas recently travelled to Newcastle to finalise a deal for the highly-rated midfielder.

The 19-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Tyneside for a few weeks now, but it seems that a deal could now be edging closer if their director has been in the North East to thrash out the finer details of a move.

Perrone will be entering his final year of his contract in January and it is believed that a fee of around £12m could be enough to snap up the exciting prospect.

Since making his first team debut back in June, the holding midfielder has gone on to make 33 appearances for his side and has played for both Argentina’s Under-16s and Under-20s.

With the squad currently lacking depth in the holding midfielder role, the young Argentinian could be an ideal signing to grow and develop with the club as we look to build on our long-term project.

  1. In this day and age, do they have to fly over to discuss the deal? I have meeting with people 10 miles away over Teams – better for the environment and cheaper than flying thousands of miles.

Maybe as a former mag he wanted to combine it with a visit to his old city?
