€26m forward with same agent as Bruno Guimaraes offered to Newcastle on loan – Report

Representatives of Atletico Madrid forward Matheus Cunha – who shares the same agent as Bruno Guimaraes – have made contact with Newcastle over the possibility of a move, according to 90min.

With the La Liga side keen to cut their wage bill, it’s believed they’d consider letting the 23-year-old leave on loan after he’s fallen behind Alvaro Morata, Antoine Griezmann and Angel Correa in attack.

As well as sharing an agent with Bruno, the Brazilian will be familiar with Kieran Trippier, having completed a €26m move from Hertha Berlin in the summer of 2021.

Other clubs are also thought to be interested in a deal, with the same report revealing that Julen Lopetegui is keen to bring him to Wolves, while his representatives have made contact with Liverpool, Chelsea and Man United.

The forward has made eight appearances for his country – although missed out on Brazil’s World Cup squad – and bagged seven goals and seven assists for Atletico last season.

In a piece for The Athletic earlier this week, David Ornstein revealed that Arsenal are considering Cunha following Gabriel Jesus’ injury, while Aston Villa’s Unai Emery is also thought to be an admirer.

  1. Do you honestly think that we are interested in players who are being “offered around”?

IF there’s one thing that strikes me about our transfer policy, it’s that we research and choose people who fit the bill as far as we are concerned. Not people being “offered around”.

    Who’s next, “Ronaldo”?
