Chelsea ‘in talks’ to beat Newcastle United to another January bargain – Fabrizio Romano

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chelsea are looking to pip Newcastle to another January target after joining the race to sign Marcus Thuram.

The Blues have already beaten us to one deal in recent weeks – we had been looking at Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos, but Graham Potter’s side sealed a move for the 18-year-old in the last few days.

Now it seems they are looking to do the double over us after ‘opening talks’ with Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram, who could be available for as little as £8.5m.

Thuram’s contract is expiring in the summer and this could be the last chance for the Bundesliga side to cash in on their star man – and his low price has attracted a lot of potential suitors.

The versatile forward would be ideal for Eddie Howe, who is looking to bolster his front line without spending a fortune, but the Frenchman is yet to decide his future and will ‘consider his options’ in the coming days.

  1. These journalists pundits and probably agents love to state players are picking to join other clubs instead of nufc. Sad bunch, just look at the last two windows, to them we were after every player available and being rejected?? Our guys will bring in the right player to suit our structure, some surprise’s no doubt. Hwtl
