Saint-Maximin set for Newcastle return as Howe receives another pre-match boost – The Telegraph

In another boost to Newcastle United’s Carabao Cup hopes, Allan Saint-Maximin has been passed fit for tomorrow’s clash with Leicester City.

As revealed by The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, the winger returned to training on Monday and ‘will be involved’ in Tuesday night’s quater-final.

The Frenchman missed our dismal FA Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday night, with Eddie Howe confirming after the game that he didn’t travel due to illness.

Howe confirmed this morning that Callum Wilson, Nick Pope and Fabian Schar – three players who were rested at the weekend – are all ready to return, so this update on Saint-Maximin is another welcome boost.

As for Leicester, Brendan Rodgers confirmed that the injury-hit Foxes will be without EIGHT senior players tomorrow, with James Maddison, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Jonny Evans, Boubakary Soumare, Ricardo Pereira, James Justin, Dennis Praet and Ryan Bertrand all ruled out.

With Kieran Trippier, Bruno Guimaraes, Joe Willock and Miguel Almiron also likely to return from the start, Tuesday’s game feels like a huge chance to reach the semi-finals.
