Spanish media claim NUFC could trigger £14m clause with Barcelona talent also contacted

According to reports in Spain, Newcastle could trigger a £14m release clause for Mallorca star Lee Kang-in and have also been in contact with Barcelona teenager Alejandro Balde.

Following his impressive performances at the World Cup for South Korea, Lee has been monitored by many European clubs, but Mallorca would only be willing to let him go should someone trigger his release clause – and Marca claim that Newcastle could do exactly that.

The 21-year-old scored twice and assisted four in 16 La Liga games last season while also recording more successful dribbles (23), key passes (27) and shot-creating actions (50) than any other player at the club. This isn’t the first time he’s been linked with a possible switch to St James’ Park.

Left-back Balde is also believed to be on our radar after working his way into the first-team squad at Barcelona. Sport report that ourselves and Arsenal have been in touch with his representatives, sending an opportunity after contract talks stalled to keep him at the Nou Camp.

At just 19, the Spaniard would be perfect for our long-term project and could offer a greater attacking output than any of the options currently at the club.

Both players would fit our transfer model of buying potential, but it is still unclear how much we truly have to spend in this window.
