Newcastle shortlist Wolves star and Barcelona midfielder recommended to Eddie Howe – Report

According to The Mail’s Craig Hope, Newcastle are showing interest in Wolves star Ruben Neves, while Barcelona’s Franck Kessie has also been suggested to Eddie Howe by club scouts.

The 25-year-old Portuguese international has been an ever present for Wolves since their return to the top flight and it’s thought his Premier League pedigree appeals to Howe.

With his contract set to expire in 18 months time and the player ‘unlikely’ to sign an extension, Newcastle have added him to their list of January targets – although Hope adds that we are yet to make contact with Neves or Wolves about a move.

Barcelona’s Franck Kessie has also been put to Newcastle’s transfer committee after being recommended by scouts, though it is believed that the 26-year-old Ivorian is not a priority target at present.

The piece adds that West Ham right-back Harrison Ashby remains of interest, while Stoke Under-18s striker Nathan Lowe is being watched closely by the club’s new youth recruitment chief, Paul Midgley.
