Newcastle reignite interest in exciting winger but five targets proving tough to sign – Report

The Mail are reporting that Newcastle are back in the mix for Moussa Diaby; a man who was heavily linked with a move to Tyneside over the summer.

After previously being put off by Bayer Leverkusen’s demands, it’s claimed we’ve launched a fresh enquiry to see if the Frenchman could be available this month, aware of the fact Arsenal are showing interest.

It’s said we are ‘long-term admirers’ of the 23-year-old and have been asked to be kept informed about his availability, believing the Bundesliga team may be tempted to sell in 2023 as they look to raise funds for signings of their own.

Staying with The Mail, Craig Hope has confirmed five midfielders on Eddie Howe’s radar; Leicester’s Youri Tielemans, Ruben Neves of Wolves, Manchester United’s Scott McTominay and Chelsea pair Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

It’s thought all of the above have been discussed during recruitment meetings, yet each one could prove difficult to sign.

Wolves and Manchester United are reluctant to let Neves or McTominay leave, Gallagher is keen to prove himself at his boyhood club under Graham Potter and Leicester are wary of letting Tielemans leave mid-season now they’re being dragged into a relegation fight. You suspect a late loan deal may be our most likely option before pursuing a top No 6 in the summer?

As for Diaby, recent reports suggest Arsenal were quoted north of £80m for the French international, so he could be another target who’ll have to wait until the summer.
