Newcastle sanction another January loan move as forgotten Mag closes in on exit – Report

According to Hull Live, Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow is ‘closing in’ on a January loan move to Hull City.

It’s thought the club have sanctioned a temporary move away now Loris Karius has signed a contract extension at St James’ Park, with any exit set to follow Chris Wood’s mid-season move to Nottingham Forest on an initial loan.

Darlow has slipped way down the pecking order following Nick Pope’s arrival and Martin Dubravka’s return from Manchester United, so it’s a deal that makes sense for all parties.

Hull – currently 16th in the Championship – are believed to be the front runners to secure the 32-year-old after their former keeper Nathan Baxter returned to his parent club Chelsea for rehab following elbow surgery.

The Tigers are hopeful of securing a deal for the shot-stopper ‘early this week’ and hope to have the formalities completed in good time for their clash with QPR on Saturday.

Having featured just twice under Eddie Howe, Darlow is thought to be very keen on the move, meaning the finer details of the move are not expected to be an issue.
