Newcastle United have had another bid rejected for Flamengo star Matheus Franca, according to Fabrizio Romano.
After revealing on 19th January our initial €16m (£14.5m) offer was turned down by the South American giants, it’s believed we’ve now gone back in with a €20m (£17.5m) bid.
However, Romano reports that this too has also been snubbed, just days after Flamengo vice president Marco Braz insisted the 18-year-old sensation was “not for sale” after a series of bids from Tyneside.
The Brazilian media recently claimed that the Série A side would be prepared to do business if we offered to pay €20m AND include a 50% sell-on clause, but it Romano’s update does not mention details of any re-sale agreement.
Franca is a Brazil U20 international who’s able to play out wide, as a No 10 or up top. He’s also bagged seven goals in 29 appearances for Flamengo and has also been tracked by Real Madrid scouts.
