According to Sky Sports, Sheffield United chief Prince Abdullah has pulled the plug on a deadline day move for Sander Berge – despite bids from Newcastle and Fulham.
Sky’s Rob Dorsett reveals that the Saudi owner has decided against selling any of their key players in the final stages of the January window, as he wants to maximise their promotion hopes.
With the club currently under a transfer embargo, it was thought they would reluctantly sanction a move for the 24-year-ol midfielder, with Fulham also keen on a £20m permanent deal, however it seems there’s been a change of heart.
Sheffield United currently sit second in the Championship and are in with a very real shout of promotion back to the Premier League, so you can see why they’ve refused late offers – especially when ours was believed to be an initial loan that includes an obligation to buy the 6ft 5′ Norwegian at the end of the season.
