Following Harrison Ashby’s official move to Newcastle United, we’ve dug out an impressive clip of the 21-year-old talent in action.
The former West Ham talent has been compared to Kieran Trippier for his tenacity, technical ability and threat from set pieces – and it’s easy to see why when looking at his highlight reel.
Since signing, he’s described himself as a ‘modern full-back’ who likes to get up and down the line, put crosses into the box and take shots from distance.
Here’s a clip of him scoring for the Irons against Leeds U21s last season:
The Scotland U21 international has signed a long-term contract on Tyneside and will go straight into the first-team set up, with Emil Krafth out with an ACL injury and Javier Manquillo also nursing a knock.
Speaking to NUFC TV, here’s what Ashby had to say when asked about his style of play and the prospect of competing with Kieran Trippier:
Harrison Ashby, you’ll see soon enough. He stands with his heels on the touchline, receives the ball and plays it back to the center backs. That’s it. He was nowhere near the first team and didn’t look like ever being.
