Newcastle United released photos of the team in training on Wednesday afternoon, offering an early indication of who will and will not be fit for Saturday’s huge game with Liverpool.
The good news is that Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron both feature, showing the attacking duo have recovered from knocks that forced them to hobble off in last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth.
However, there’s no Joe Willock – who is facing a race against time to ne fit for the final after suffering a hamstring injury – and Callum Wilson also fails to feature in any of the 42 pictures released on NUFC.co.uk.
Howe said that Wilson was left out against Bournemouth due to a hamstring niggle and seemed confident he’d be fine for this weekend, but his absence here raises fresh doubts.
Jamaal Lascelles was involved after missing out entirely last Saturday and Javier Manquillo can also be seen back in training for the first time in almost a month, however there’s no Matt Targett – despite him being described as ‘very close’ by Eddie Howe last week.
