Castore slated by Newcastle fans (again) after kit supplier release new range ahead of cup final

Castore have released some limited edition items ahead of the Carabao Cup final – but fans are not happy with the huge prices after the company struggled to cope with high demand in their first 18 months.

The kit manufacturers signed a deal with Newcastle in 2021 but have consistently come under heavy criticism from Toon supporters for failing to deliver products on time.

There have also been concerns over the poor quality of clothing and with us challenging for a European spot, you would expect better service and a better product from such a high-end company.

Castore also haven’t done themselves any favours by making this new range so pricey –  a long sleeved top will set you back £70 while a pair of bottoms to match will be an extra £65.

Here’s a few of the items, followed by some of the feedback received from Toon fans on Twitter:

Complete rip off like all of their products. How many sets of “limited edition” cup final items do they want to release! Poor quality, terrible customer service and too expensive.

Capitalising on it massively. If prices where cheaper would make sense but the training top we currently have is so much nicer. These designs are so plain.

I wish they’d put the same effort into quality and service as they do making money. I quite like the look of most of their stuff but it’s never worth the prices they dream up. Feels exploitative more than anything now.

Waiting for us to go Adidas in a few years. Castore is ****. That’s my thoughts.

This must be the 10th shirt Cashtore have released this season. The poor parents of kids who demand every shirt are being hit the hardest. They’re milking the fans for all they can before they’re replaced next season.

Trying to cash in as much as they can while they can. This will be their last range before they’re binned off!

25 quid for a scarf is a joke

Over the past 18 or so months Castore have shown their products are poor quality and their customer service/experience is poor quality. Yet they still charge a premium for basic products. I personally won’t be buying anything from them other than jerseys.

Was in the shop the other day. Some lovely gear but absolutely disgraceful how expensive it is. Was going to get myself that lovely grey and turquoise blue hoodie but it’s 70 quid

With all this negativity surrounding the brand and the club wanting to strike more commercial deals in the summer, this could well be the last range of clothes that Castore produce for Newcastle.

  1. Do the fans, and the writer of this piece, for that matter, actually believe that Castore can just release bits of kit with any design they feel like, whenever they want?
Don’t they understand that Castore can not release ANYTHING without the approval of NUFC?
The design, release date AND PRICE of the items mentioned above (that Castore are being slagged off for) MUST BE APPROVED by NUFC before they are released.
It doesn’t seem that long ago that fans were praising the club for switching to Castore who were seen as a more up market supplier.
I don’t know about anybody else, but I personally think it would be ridiculous if Newcastle didn’t release a cup final shirt.
As for those poor parents whose kids want every shirt the club put out, they could try saying “no”.
