Toon eyeing Bundesliga full-back and top La Liga talent, despite January signing – Reports

According to reports, Newcastle are showing interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong and Real Valladolid’s Ivan Fresneda.

We brought in Harrison Ashby from West Ham last month, but it’s suggested the club are keen to bring in another right-back, with Javier Manquillo expected to leave and Emil Krafth’s future up in the air following a serious ACL injury.

The Evening Standard claim that we remain one of the frontrunners for Fresneda – a player Steve Nickson was spotted watching in December – with Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus also in the mix after the player opted to remain with Valladolid in January.

Fresneda has a release clause of £26.5m in his contract and is expected to be on the move this summer as one of the most highly-rated young talents in La Liga.

As for Frimpong, Ben Jacobs claims we have been tracking the Leverkusen star along with Manchester United.

The 22-year-old, formerly of Celtic and Man City, has been one of the Bundesliga side’s standout players this year, bagging five goals and six assists from full-back. Who knows, perhaps he’s caught our eye during trips to watch Moussa Diaby?

“More generally, there are a few other full-backs to keep an eye on,” Jacobs said. “Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong is being tracked by Newcastle and Manchester United.

  1. Yes we are after everyone, but I reckon if we will be very lucky to get three of those we really want as other clubs still have a greater pull.
    It’s gonna take time!
