According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle United are set to appoint Paul Mclaren as the club’s new Head of Scouting this summer.
He is currently Man City’s chief scout at youth level, but will leave his position at the Etihad, with his new role on Tyneside ‘likely’ to begin in July.
It’s believed to be a newly-created recruitment role – suggesting Steve Nickson should keep his job at St James’ Park – with the club stepping up plans to overhaul our recruitment set-up.
McLaren is a former Luton and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder who has previously worked at Arsenal before he was snapped up by Man City in 2017.
This is the second behind the scenes reshuffle we’ve seen today, with Majed Al Sorour – CEO of Saudi Golf Federation and Golf Saudi – stepping down as a board member.
In line with this, Companies House documents show that Abdulmajid Ahmed Alhagbani and Asmaa Mohammed Rezeeq are now new directors on the Newcastle board, with Alhagbani a senior manager of head of securities in the Middle East and North Africa with PIF.
