Bruno Guimaraes’ brilliant speech as Eddie Howe & Alan Shearer watch Brazilian land award – Video

Last night, Bruno Guimarães collected his 2022 Player of the Year award at the North East Football Writers’ Association annual dinner in Durham.

Speaking in front of the likes of Eddie Howe and Alan Shearer – who were both present at the awards ceremony at Ramside Hall – the Brazilian delivered a brilliant speech.

Bruno paid tribute to his teammates, the manager, all the staff and his family, thanking Howe for helping him achieve his “best year” in football so far and revealing how his father is now “famous” in Newcastle!

“It’s a pleasure for me, I’d like to say thank you to everyone who voted for me. Thank you to my team-mates, my family, the whole staff.

“I’d like to say thank you to Eddie [Howe] as well. He’s taken my best year [in football] and this guy, those guys deserve this trophy and if I could share this with my team-mates, I would do it 100-per-cent.

“I’m very happy to get this trophy, my first individual trophy here in England.”

The midfielder also sent this message to Newcastle fans on social media after landing the prestigious award:
