Nick Pope looks set to sign a new deal at Newcastle United worth £100,000-per-week, according to The Sun’s Alan Nixon.
Elsewhere, Brazilian outlet iG Esporte, along with 90min, claim that Bruno Guimaraes is also in talks over a new deal after a superb first 18 months on Tyneside.
The club are eager to fend off alleged interest from Real Madrid and hand the midfielder a well-deserved pay-rise. Esporte report that he is in line for a ‘significant’ increase in pay, while 90min state that Newcastle hope to announce an extension before the 2022/23 season comes to a close.
As for Pope, Nixon adds that our shot-stopper earns around £60,000 at present. However, with him now considered one of the most consistent performers in the top flight – no one has bettered his 12 clean sheets – a new contract worth £100,000-per-week is being discussed.
It could be a summer of change at St James’ Park, as fringe men could be moved on and a host of first-team targets pursued, but it would be great to tie down two of our most influential players to new deals.
