New footage shows Anthony Gordon’s clash with Eddie Howe after late sub on Saturday – Video

New footage has emerged of Anthony Gordon’s disagreement with Eddie Howe after he was substituted in the final seconds of our victory over Brentford.

The game was practically over – the whistle blew soon after the winger was brought off – but having come on himself in the second half, Gordon was clearly frustrated with the decision as Matt Ritchie took his place late on.

During his interviews, Howe added that the 21-year-old needed to learn to ‘control his emotions’ but the impression was that this would be dealt with internally and resolved fairly quickly.

Watch the incident below, which has been shared on social media following our 2-1 win on Saturday:

It’s somewhat understandable to feel frustrated, especially at such a young age and after being subbed on and off, but he will have to learn that it is ultimately all bout the team.

The £40m-man was on social media after the game sharing images of our victory from his teammates and looked quite happy in the team photo, so it’s fair to say that us the end of that and as fans we should move on.

  1. If my memory serves me right it was argued by some at the time that we wouldn’t buy Gordon, because he was a stroppy kid, and wouldn’t fit in with our lovey-dovey dressing room.
But no, we wanted kids who wanted to play for us. We wanted that kind of drive!!
So he went on strike with Everton to push through a move.
Now he’s shrugging off Howe because he didn’t like being subbed?
I’m hoping we bought him more as an investment, than a regular player……

  3. Howe took Gordon off as he went down holding his ankle following a challenge with minutes left remaining. Nowt to do with his performance. According to stats he competed 100% of his passes! And looked a threat going forward and put in the hard yards too. Gordon looks a very bright prospect and clearly a passionate lad which needs rounding a little.
