Magical photo of Amanda Staveley emerges as new record is set at St James’ Park

Newcastle co-owner Amanda Staveley was pictured dancing with the women’s team after a 6-1 victory at St James Park in front of a record crowd of 24,092.

The Lasses comfortably beat Bradford City Women on Sunday afternoon to gain another huge three points and make sure that promotion is still in our own hands with just three games remaining.

It is really incredible to see our owners have such a huge influence on this side of the club and clearly a passion for the women to grow and hopefully eventually gain promotion to the Women’s Super League.

The passion the owners have also appears to rubbing off on supporters – a crowd of just over 24,000 is now the new record attendance for a game in the fourth division – absolutely unbelievable.

These photos below really encapsulate the mood around the club and it almost feels as though Staveley and her enthusiasm is helping to drive the team forwards, similar to that of Howe with the men’s team and Dan Ashworth with the academy.

See the brilliant photos below from Sunday’s win, starting with an iconic shot of Staveley dancing in the dressing room with Wor Lasses:

  1. I love this, and not coz I’m a wokey jumping all over woman’s football – though I do think its growth has been great for young girls to get involved in the beautiful game.

I love it because my biggest hope wasn’t the owners come in and pump billions into the first team – it was that they grew us as a club & as a region.

To put it into context – the average PL attendance so far in the 22/23 season is 38.5k. The women’s team got over 24k for a 4th tier match & they won 6-1. How many young girls left wanting the NUFC shirt & inspired to wear it for real one day.

I remember as a young lad going to watch us play before the Keegan era (when we were rubbish) and I fell in love with the club then – and there was defo no 6-1 wins when I went.

It’s a brilliant thing Amanda is doing not just for NUFC ladies, but young girls across our region.

  2. @Sharpy17 well said couldn’t have put it any better 👍

Ps I remember those dark days before Keegan as well I still wake up in a cold sweat screaming no not Reilly/Pingel dark days where the owners were just as bad as Ashley.
