Newcastle reignite interest in RB Leipzig star with player keen on Premier League move – Report

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United have revived their interest in RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara.

They report that we are big admirers of the Mali international and attempted to bring him to St James’ Park last summer. The Bundesliga side refused to sell at the time, but it’s believed the 25-year-old is expected to move on at the end of the season.

The Chronicle say Haidara is eager to seal a Premier League move, putting us in a strong position to land the all-action midfielder should we launch a bid. With Champions League experience, bags of energy and the ability to play as a No 6 or No 8, it’s easy to see why he appeals.

Brighton identified the former Salzburg star as a potential replacement for Moises Caicedo back in January, so we could face competition from the Seagulls should the Ecuadorian seal a big-money move. Manchester United are also thought to hold long-term interest in the player.

Speaking about a potential move to England last year, Haidara said: “The matches in the Premier League are very intense. It’s always a good game, no matter which club plays. We’ll see what happens.”
