Watch Eddie Howe’s immediate reaction to 4-1 win at Everton – Hails Toon trio & magic moment

Eddie Howe has praised the “authority and quality” Newcastle showed to see off Everton 4-1 in a stunning second half display.

He insists we were below our best in the first 45 and struggled to manage the occasion – the fiery atmosphere inside Goodison Park contributed to a frenetic start – but hailed Callum Wilson’s finish and the sweeping move that led to our all-important opener.

Howe felt that first goal was always going to be crucial and we kicked on from that point, helping us settle into the game and “show our quality” as Joelinton, Wilson and Murphy all got in on the act.

The boss also hailed Isak’s moment of magic to set up Murphy’s tap-in, praised Joelinton’s “inner belief” and Wilson’s brace; feeling our No 9 reminded everyone what a “top quality player” he is.

Once again, he refused to be drawn into Champions League talk until the job is done, insisting we still have 18 points to fight for in our quest for a top-four finish. Watch his chat with beIN Sports below:

  1. Ha!
He won’t get pulled into CL discussions will he?
Good for him .. leave the speculation and dreaming to us fans while he and his team stay focussed and get the job done to confirm a CL place and reap their reward for an outstanding season
