£30m move imminent as Newcastle miss out on long-term target to Premier League rivals

Brighton look set to sign long-term Newcastle target Joao Pedro less than a year after his move to Tyneside collapsed, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Personal terms are believed to have been agreed and the Brazilian is expected to sign a long-term deal, with a club-record move in the region of £30m thought to be imminent.

Pedro has enjoyed another promising campaign on a personal level, scoring 11 and assisting four in 35 games, despite Watford failing to really challenge for promotion back to the Premier League.

Newcastle have been big fans of the 21-year-old for some time now and were so close to securing his talents last summer – Romano himself had even given him his famous ‘Here we go’ before the move collapsed.

Instead, the Seagulls look set to attain the versatile forward who has looked an exciting prospect in his first couple of season in the top flight and can surely only get better.

A shame for Newcastle, who clearly rated him highly, but we can’t worry too much. After all, we may not have landed Alexander Isak last summer had we sealed a move for Pedro a few weeks prior!

  1. He wouldn’t get much game time anyway once Messi and Kane arrive as back up for Wilson and Isak 😎
