Duo edge closer to Newcastle United exits as two clubs confirm interest in summer deals

Newcastle United duo Karl Darlow and Jeff Hendrick look likely to leave the club in the summer with two clubs confirming interest in turning their loan deals permanent.

Darlow has been on loan at Hull since January and has really impressed in the Championship, recording five clean sheets in 11 games and winning several man of the match awards.

Hull City boss Liam Rosenior was full of praise for the shot-stopper and his hoping that they can ‘discuss his long-term future’ at the club in the coming months.

Hendrick has also been enjoying a spell in the second division with Reading, although they are currently facing a battle against relegation.

This would naturally have a huge impact on whether the club would be able to bring the Irishman in, but the club have previously confirmed their interest in a permanent move should they survive and have a transfer embargo lifted.

Here’s what both have had to say, revealing their interest in keeping the Newcastle United duo.

Hull City manager Liam Rosenior on Karl Darlow:

“He’s been magnificent since he’s come in. I think he’s massively enjoying working here, I think he’s enjoying the club, he’s settled in with the players really really well.

“What I really like about Karl was as soon as he signed he had his young family come and join him and settle down in the area, and I think that’s helped him. Hopefully we’ll have discussions in the summer about his long-term future.”

Former Reading boss Paul Ince on Jeff Hendrick:

“Newcastle have gone down a different road and I think Jeff knows that. If we can afford to keep him next year then that’d be great.

“He’s based in London, he’s got a family down here. In my life I’ve played with and managed some great players, but to me he is the ultimate pro. He comes in every day and does it right.

“If anybody asks me what the idea of a perfect professional is, it’s Jeff Hendrick because he’s a super guy. Fingers crossed and everything goes well for us and we manage to stay up, then we’d like to keep hold of him.”
